A good guy crashed
On the road today.
A bill came due and
He did pay
With a big chunk of life
That left his wife
And me,
Holding his bags.
Baggage filled with lonely stuff
Filled by a guy who had enough
Of what this world can offer.
Knocked his wife right off her
Wobbly ladder
That always had her
Hanging by a thread
Could he avoid death?
Or would it find him
Always climbing
From a hole he dug
From him, a shrug.
His life laying on that line.
