Every person has a place in their mind where they FILE things.
Just a tad to the right of that spot is a heading named EDIT. Click on EDIT and the first command you will see is the UNDO function.
Click UNDO and your most recent action in life will be reversed so you can re-do it.
“Many people think they are thinking when they are merely rearranging their prejudices.” William James
I’m telling you, there’s nothing here!
As IF
Man! How I wished there was an UNDO button in life! I would have been tapping that baby so often that the letters N and D would be worn right off!
And why do I desire such a dissembling force in my life anyway…?
Because I don’t contemplate my choices deeply enough, that’s why! (thanks mom…)
Limited pondering about long term outcomes and how such a reality demands alternate viewpoints and stances causes me HUGE problems. Usually I am so caught up in the significant demands of today that I don’t invest time to determine how these activities are going to influence the future. But they definitely are.
A Log Pile of Days
As youngsters, the neighborhood hooligans and I often played an impromptu game called Log Pile.
Usually started by accident, the game occurred when someone shouted LOG PILE! right after another unfortunate kid had hit the dirt and was too slow picking themselves up. There’s no such thing as “taking your own sweet time” around youth!
It was a fun enough game as long as you weren’t the poor participant at the bottom of the playmate pyramid. That kid ALWAYS wanted to hit the UNDO button!
Our adult days pile up in the same manner. Slowly and silently, they add their weight to our lives until one day (if you’re on the bottom) we’re short of breath. And that’s precisely why we have to pay attention to our understanding of time and it’s affects on us.
My mind-set changed dramatically when I deleted my UNDO button during a reformatting of my lifedrive a few months ago. A realization had (too) slowly formed that prompted me to start reflecting upon decisions as they pertained to the future because day by day, those conclusions were being added to the molehill called Me.
Hey, why not obliterate your UNDO button, too?
I think you’ll breathe a lot easier.
Thank you, friend.
Barry out.
Stellar blog will verify back for more in the future.
Stellar?! I’ll take that as a complement…
