No state has ever escaped gifting gold to the barbarians

Roman culture is often called Greco-Roman because the Romans were very much influenced by Greek culture. They adopted several of the Greek gods as their own, renaming them and giving them slightly different attributes. Ares, the Greek god of war became Mars, Roman god of war. The Grecian Empire was very widespread, so the Romans would have been very familiar with the Grecian influence. Grecian influence also appears in Roman art and arcitecture and can be seen in the design of buildings and temples. The Romans carried the Greek influences forward with their Empire building.
