Lots of geographical explorers appreciated their animals to the Nth degree.
They loved them, worshiped them, and depended upon them for their
very survival. Probably one of the most telling distinctions between
great adventurers of our time was how they respected these
companions of lower cultural stature. Some admitted
the limited possibility that they might have to
imbibe their beloved servants but did their
utmost to avoid having to do so. Other
pioneers planned the consumption
of their cohorts from the outset
and while both roasts surely
provided a similar flavor, one left the worst taste in everyone’s mouth.
Thank you, friend.
