A 4 U Guy Or Girl. Get Yours Today.

there you go little buddy

Before my company flew too close to the 2008 recession sun and crashed, it employed an employee advocate.

He was one person answering to one hundred and fifty people.

This fellow was the voice of our downtrodden and represented the disenfranchised masses who were always upset about one thing or another.

Dude was a certified counselor and an escapee from management himself so he knew the ins and outs of office politics. This jolly guy was also blessed with a grand sense of humor and had buckets full of empathy for humans in

general and he eventually became our finger on the pulse of the entire

confuzzled company. The 4 U Guy had a mandate to make happy

and he did this by administering anonymous, well thought

out surveys which employees were paid to complete

every 3 months and then representing findings

to senior management as well as following

through with recommendations and

then publishing this activity so

everyone would know how

he was meeting their

expectations. The

4 U Guy did this and much, much more and he did it with Style.

Thank you, friend.

Barry out.

Please feel free to copy and alter this survey any way you see fit.

If you are selling it (not advised) I want 25%. If you give it away free I want 100%.

Okay, here is the survey I mention in the above story:

Our Guy’s name was Blair and he was awesome!

He worked on payroll and benefit package issues as well as confidentially handling personal challenges our employees might be facing.

A broken marriage might need a motel room or separate living accommodations. A death in the family might need financial assistance. A crashed or broken vehicle might need help arranging transportation.

Whatever it was, Blair was there with full company support to make things right.

How do you think it made our 150 employees feel to have someone like The 4 U Guy watching their back?

Of course, The 4 U Guy was fired a month after I was.

The senior management “team” didn’t like the amount of power that was accruing to the 4 U Guy position.

But Blair had great humility and accepted both his power and his fate with dignity.

Fucking senior managers. Unfortunately, most are a god damn joke!

Blair came to our company as a janitor but after I read his resume and experience, I knew we had to invent a job more suited to his talents.

Still, he swung a mop for the first 6 months as he and I developed his new role.

His time in janitorial gave him a pile of insights into what our company was all about. Who the trouble makers where, who our unappreciated where and within a short time he was well acquainted with the nasty underbelly of the beast he was about to tame.

If I hadn’t been terminated my plan was to invent a Morale Officer position and this person would work with our 4 U Guy to make happy daze our standard operating procedure.

This morale officer’s effectiveness would show up in our quarterly confidential surveys because people let it all hang out when given the chance.

Some people might suggest that these damn surveys can be so loaded with positive questions that they could actually begin to program the survey takers if taken regularly.

NO, I say. Could they be right?!

    Well, maybe. A little.
